This workshop is an introduction to animal drawing covering topics such as rhythm, design, form, gesture, proportion and basic anatomy. Joe's workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of animal anatomy. The content within this survey will also serve as a starting point for drawing the live model, drawing from imagination, and offer a basic approach that can be built upon with more advanced studies. With emphasis placed on proper distribution of mass via line weighting and placement, along with instruction on how to create dynamic poses and composition, Joe's workshop will give the beginning artist the foundation they need to create not only great art, but functional organic design as well..

This workshop will focus on the creation of production illustrations used for pitches and visual development in the film industry. The process involves designing and illustrating environments, principles of dramatic lighting, composition, atmospheric perspective and applying textures. Having a design background in the car industry Patrick works as a concept designer for the film industry. His recent projects include “Gatchaman”, “Priest” and “Jack the Giant Killer”.

John Myatt started out as an art school graduate who, having discovered an aptitude for mimicking the styles of other artists, found his friends were requesting his works, and were prepared to pay for them. He followed this up with an advert in Private Eye which read "Genuine fakes. Nineteen and twentieth century paintings from £150", through which he met art dealer and master provenance-faker John Drewe. Drewe originally gave Myatt a few private commissions, but having sold one of the paintings at auction as an original, he let Myatt in on the game and together they sold over 200 paintings, anything from Monets and Renoirs to Hockneys and Chagalls, over 120 of which - it is thought - are still in circulation.

In this DVD, Cecil takes the initial idea sketches created from the first volume of this series, "Ideation Sketching" and paints them digitally using Adobe Photoshop®. From ten-minute building shading to coloring a vista layout for a fantasy city, Cecil will use basic painting layer techniques to put down value, color and lighting into multiple scenes. During this process, Cecil will also edit the structure design of some sketches as he paints them. Watch as Cecil breaks down his efficient workflow; demonstrating how he preserves line drawings as he separates value and color in multiple layers, and focuses more on readability and defining shapes rather than surface material rendering. This technique allows him to quickly present painting concepts for a production team to review.

Kyle Lambert is an extraordinary artist who has become an advocate for finger painting with the iPad. He focuses on photo-realistic digital painting and illustration.

In this DVD, Carlos demonstrates his digital creature/character painting techniques. James M. Sulkowski was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1951. He studied for two years at the Pennsylvania Academy of fine Arts in Philadelphia, Carnegie Mellon University and most notably at The Art Students League of New York with master painter, Frank Mason. It was during his five years of study with Mr. Mason that Sulkowski learned the concepts and techniques of the great masters. Mr. Sulkowski's work combines a philosophy and science along with his art. His subject matter is nature. In his landscapes, still lifes, portraits and murals, he attempts to reveal the universal and the beautiful elements found in the world around us. To him, this is change enough. Like the Masters, he believes that capturing the inner essence of his subject is as important as painting the eternal mask. Whistler said, "the palette is your instrument, the colors are the notes and on it you play your symphonies."

In this lecture, David Meng shares his thoughts on how he creates personality and expression in a character bust. He will discuss his thought process behind doing an unconventional take on a traditional creature. The practical aspects of working with plastalina and building armatures will also be discussed. Viewers will get to look, from start to finish, at how David creates a physical clay design maquette for the film industry.
